The Second Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Richard Asante, has called on the lawyers who led the kume Preko demonstration to rather go to court to seek the resignation of the president.

According to him, Lawyer Martin Kpebu knew their failed demonstration could never lead to the resignation of President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.

Speaking to the media, Mr Asante was surprised at the failure of the lawyers to seek such relief in a court of law.

According to the Vice Chairman, ordinary persons can resort to demonstration so as a learned person, Lawyer Kpebu ought to have applied the provisions in the 1992 constitution to remove the president from office and not such fun fair.

Mr Asante, who described the lawyers and other demonstrators as hypocrites, wondered why they did not call for the resignation of President John Mahama through demonstration when Ghanaians suffered under dumsor for many years.

He disclosed that the demonstrators should have known better that Ghana is also affected by the worldwide economic crisis.

Mr Asante therefore urged Ghanaians to repose confidence in the government towards improving the state of Ghana’s economy.
