Nearly 100 delegates from eight polling stations in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency have declared their support for Captain (Rtd.) Reuben Solomon Jabari in his bid to become Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.
The delegates, drawn from the Saviour, Adumasa and Afratia electoral areas, made their position known when they paid a solidarity visit to the residence of Captain Jabari on Sunday.
The development is being seen as a major boost to the campaign of the former Island City Branch Chairman as the race for the constituency chairmanship gathers momentum.
The delegation comprised delegates from two polling stations at Saviour, four at Adumasa and two at Afratia.
The jubilant delegates were led by Isaac Duah, popularly known as Prof., the Electoral Coordinator for the Saviour, Adumasa and Afratia electoral areas.
Grassroots Support
Mr Duah, speaking on behalf of the delegates, said their decision to support Captain Jabari was not based on mere promises but on their assessment of his vision, commitment and interventions aimed at improving the welfare of party members.
He said the delegates had closely followed the activities of the candidate and were convinced that he had demonstrated a genuine commitment to the grassroots.
According to him, one of the initiatives that had particularly attracted their attention was Captain Jabari’s “Fund Me Go” loan initiative, which seeks to create financial opportunities and provide support to NDC members.
He explained that the initiative demonstrated Captain Jabari’s understanding of the economic challenges confronting party members and his willingness to explore practical ways of supporting them.
Mr Duah also mentioned Captain Jabari’s intervention in the rehabilitation of deteriorated roads in parts of the electoral area as another reason for the delegates’ decision.
He said when concerns about the poor condition of some roads were brought to the attention of the candidate, he responded promptly to help address the situation.
“These are unprecedented interventions, and they have strengthened our confidence in him,” Mr Duah said.
Impressed With Team Jabari
The Electoral Coordinator further stated that the delegates had also been impressed by the energy, organisation and commitment demonstrated by Team Jabari throughout the campaign.
He said the level of organisation exhibited by the campaign team had convinced many grassroots members that Captain Jabari had the capacity to lead the constituency and bring a new dynamism to the party’s activities.
Mr Duah said the delegates were therefore prepared to associate themselves with the campaign and work to ensure that Captain Jabari emerged victorious in the chairmanship contest.
He expressed confidence that the candidate would provide the kind of leadership that would prioritise the concerns of ordinary party members.
Jabari Responds
Captain (Rtd.) Reuben Solomon Jabari, in response to the declaration of support, expressed his gratitude to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him.
He assured them that he would not disappoint them if given the mandate to lead the constituency.
Captain Jabari pledged to remain accessible to party members and promised that his doors would be open to them 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
He said the welfare of party members would be one of the key priorities of his administration if elected.
According to him, party members who sacrifice their time, energy and resources for the NDC deserve to be recognised and appropriately rewarded.
He stressed the need for a constituency leadership that would be responsive to the concerns of the grassroots and ensure that members felt valued and appreciated.
Confident of Victory
Captain Jabari also expressed optimism about his campaign, saying the growing support from delegates had strengthened his resolve to work harder to win the chairmanship.
He appealed to the delegates to continue supporting his candidature and to remain confident in his vision for the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency.
He assured them that he would work with all stakeholders and party members to build a stronger and more united constituency should he be given the mandate.
The declaration by the nearly 100 delegates adds to the growing campaign activities within the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency as aspirants intensify their engagements with delegates ahead of the NDC’s internal elections.
