Four people have been confirmed dead and 12 others injured following a fatal accident at Wakrom Junction near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, September 15, when a DAF truck, registered AW 9548-13 and loaded with 700 bags of rice, collided with a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle with registration number GC 9728-21.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Central Regional Rescue Team, which arrived at the scene at 2:59 p.m., extricated five victims from the wreckage.Ghanaian Cultural Tours
Four of them were later pronounced dead at the hospital, while one critically injured victim is receiving treatment.
Earlier, nine passengers had been rescued and rushed to the hospital before the GNFS team arrived. In total, 17 people were involved in the accident. The driver and mate of the truck escaped unhurt.
Rescue efforts were still underway late Monday to free one person trapped in the mangled vehicle. The accident caused heavy traffic on the busy highway as emergency workers cleared the scene.
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution when using the stretch.
