The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has suspended operations at the Kpone Terminal until further notice following protests by transit freight forwarders at the Tema Port.
The development was confirmed by the President of the Transit Freight Forwarders Association, William Ababio, in an interview with Citi News.
The operators had earlier staged a demonstration over what they described as a unilateral decision by the Authority to relocate transit containers to Kpone without prior consultation with key stakeholders.
According to the freight forwarders, the move disrupted their operations and undermined established coordination within the port logistics chain.
They have since called for greater stakeholder engagement, insisting that decisions of such magnitude should involve prior consultations with industry players.
