The District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for Amenfi Central in the Western Region , Mr. David Umiker Quarm, has marked his birthday with a generous donation of 20 bags of cement and two footballs to the Sureso D/A Basic School, his alma mater.

The gesture, which took place at the school on Tuesday, was aimed at supporting ongoing infrastructure development and promoting sports among pupils.

Presenting the items, Mr. David Quarm said the donation was his way of giving back to the school that laid the foundation for his academic and professional journey.

He noted that education remained one of the strongest pillars for national development and urged individuals who had benefited from their communities to support educational institutions whenever the opportunity arose.

“I am what I am today because of the foundation I received here. As I celebrate another year of God’s blessings, I believe the best way to express my gratitude is to invest in the future of these children and support my former school,” he said.

Mr. Quarm encouraged the pupils to remain disciplined, work hard in their studies and take advantage of every opportunity available to them, stressing that determination and perseverance could lead them to greater heights.

Beyond supporting education, the NADMO Director, who also serves as the Amenfi Central District Football Association Chairman, demonstrated his commitment to sports development by donating two footballs to the school.

He said sports played a critical role in nurturing discipline, teamwork and talent among young people and pledged to continue supporting grassroots football development across the district.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Headteacher expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Quarm for remembering his alma mater despite his busy public service responsibilities.
He described the donation as timely, noting that the cement would contribute significantly to ongoing improvement works while the footballs would help strengthen sporting activities in the school.

The Headteacher appealed to other old students and philanthropists to emulate Mr. Quarm’s example by contributing towards the development of the school.

Some pupils also expressed excitement over the donation, promising to take good care of the footballs and excel both academically and in sports.

The presentation ended with prayers and goodwill messages for Mr. David Quarm as the school community wished him good health, long life and greater success in his public service career.
