Don’t Demonize Kumasi Mayor For Your Selfish Interest-Kumasi Petty Traders Told

1,253
Of late, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi metropolitan assembly,Hon.Osei Assibey Antwi has been portrayed as worthy of contempt or evil for trying to keep the central business district of Kumasi clean and to ensure that no trader plies his/her trade on pavement.
The Kumasi City guards have also step up their efforts in clearing traders selling on pavements ,roads and unauthorized areas to ensure that the city is clean and safe from danger.
It is clear that under any circumstances, pavements are provided for the use of perdestrains but that of Kumasi have been taken over by  traders within the city .
The cry of the citizenry are for the clearing of the traders who have playing their trade on the pavements.
It is evident that anytime city authorities try to decongest those areas ,One Mr.Frimpong , leader of the traders and his cohorts are found of attacking authorities for their selfish gains.
The recent attack on the city mayor is uncalled for.
Begining of the year 2021,leaders of the Petty traders headed by Nana Prempeh, led  a team to Accra to understudy how those petty traders in Accra ply their trade and behave towards City authorities, thereafter,Nana Prempeh was heard loud and clear on radio in Kumasi commending the Kumasi mayor for sending them to Accra to understudy the course .
Nana Prempeh went on to explain that the Petty traders’ petition to the KMA was to trade on pavement and some selected areas during the Christmas period and would vacate from the aforementioned areas after the Christmas  yet the traders don’t won’t to move out and have on countless occasion accused the City mayor of preventing them of doing their business as if the City mayor is an evil.
Whereas we have Satellite markets like Atasomanso market,Tafo Market,Atonsu market,Abenkyi market , race course and Asewase market yet these traders have refused to go and do business at those areas provided by the city authorities.
The most annoying part of the issue is that these same traders knowing very well of their wrong doing go sit on radio and be blaming the mayor for any harm caused at where they are not supposed to ply their trade.
