The Ashanti Region has marked a significant milestone in public sector infrastructure with the commissioning of a new regional office for the Ghana Revenue Authority, a project that began over a decade ago.

The ceremony, held today, was attended by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, alongside traditional leaders, senior government officials, and key stakeholders. Among the dignitaries present were the Auditor-General and Professor Francis Duodu, Presidential Advisor on Anti-Corruption.

The newly commissioned facility, which commenced in 2011, experienced prolonged delays before its eventual completion in 2026.

Its delivery, government officials say, underscores a renewed national commitment to completing inherited and stalled projects in the broader interest of the public.

Addressing the gathering, Dr.Frank Amoakohene highlighted the importance of continuity in governance, noting that the successful completion of the project reflects the collective efforts of successive administrations.

He commended the Auditor-General for his leadership role and acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders who played a part in bringing the project to fruition.

“This is a testament to our resolve as a government to prioritize the completion of legacy projects that serve the people,” the Minister stated. “We must also ensure that such investments are preserved through a strong maintenance culture to guarantee long-term value.”

The commissioning forms part of a broader policy direction by the government to accelerate the completion of ongoing projects nationwide.

According to the Minister, the Ashanti Region alone has seen the successful completion and operationalization of 44 legacy projects under this initiative.

The new GRA office is expected to enhance revenue mobilization efforts, improve operational efficiency, and provide a more conducive working environment for staff, ultimately strengthening public service delivery in the region.

Government officials reiterated their commitment to sustainable development and improved service delivery, emphasizing that strategic infrastructure investments remain central to national growth and economic stability.
