The Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have demanded an immediate public apology and response from the area’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Frank Yeboah, over alleged involvement in a plot to disrupt electricity supply through bribery of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) officials.
In a strongly worded press statement issued on May 16, 2026, and signed by the Constituency Communications Officer, Sadick Abubakar, the executives expressed concern over a circulating audio recording allegedly linking the MP, referred to in the tape as “Asuofua MP,” to discussions aimed at influencing ECG officials to deliberately interrupt power supply for political purposes.
According to the statement, the alleged act was intended to create public dissatisfaction and damage the image of the government. The constituency executives described the allegations as disturbing and unacceptable, especially at a time when citizens continue to struggle with unstable electricity supply.
The statement stressed that if the allegations are proven to be true, the conduct would amount to a betrayal of public trust and an abuse of office, adding that public officials must uphold integrity, patriotism, and responsible leadership.
“We consider these allegations extremely serious and damaging to the integrity and reputation of our constituency,” the statement noted.
The executives also questioned the silence of the MP and his office, noting that more than a week had passed since the audio surfaced without any official clarification or denial.
As part of their demands, the constituency executives called for:
An immediate public response regarding the authenticity of the audio;
A sincere apology to constituents for the embarrassment caused;
The resignation of the MP should investigations confirm the allegations; and
A full independent investigation by the relevant state institutions.
They further emphasized that the people of Atwima Nwabiagya North would not support any attempt to sabotage national infrastructure or manipulate public suffering for political advantage.
The development has generated widespread discussion within political circles and among residents, with many awaiting a response from the MP as calls for investigations intensify.
