Kath Procures 1million cedis worth of beds and lockers

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of a consignment of hospital beds and bedside lockers valued at over One million Ghana Cedis (GH₵1,000,000.00).

The consignment is made up of 110 beds and 120 bedside lockers valued at GH₵990,000 and GH₵85,000 respectively.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, the Medical Director, Dr. Kwadwo Sarbeng and Mrs. Marina Assabil, Chief Nursing Officer (C.N.O) and Ag. Director of Nursing Services, have already inspected the installation and approved the distribution of the beds and bedside lockers to the various directorates.

Remarks By Chief Executive Officer:
In some short remarks, Prof Addai- Mensah said the aim of the procurement of the beds and lockers, which is being funded from the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of the hospital, was to improve the stock of beds at the hospital and ultimately help to improve quality of health care service to patients.

“KATH is known for receiving referrals from 12 out of the 16 regions in Ghana and, therefore, its beds are usually under enormous pressure hence the need to constantly replace them in other to maintain the delivery of quality clinical service at the hospital”, he stated.

He was hopeful that the procurement of the beds and bedsides lockers would go a long way in making health care delivery more convenient for patients and health workers as a whole.

The CEO noted that the procurement of the new beds and lockers and the recent receipt of another 100 beds from Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, have helped to replace a number of old and non-functional beds at the hospital.
