Mr.Samuel Addai Agyekum, District Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu district in the Ashanti region has said that we should all unite to build our country together irrespective of our political affiliation, religion, tribe, sex, etc.
He said this at Kumawu when he spearheaded the green Ghana project together with his able traditional leaders and other political parties in the area.
According to him,it’s about time we plant today and harvest the benefits tomorrow together.
“We must all plant at least a tree and own it, nurture it to grow to benefit all. A tree that you plant today is an insurance for you tomorrow.”He added.
Through his leadership skills,he managed to mobilize residents in his jurisdiction to plant over 12000 seedlings of different species.
He made it known that, the planting of the 12000 seedlings is a work in progress so we are all to make it part of us.
‘Let’s make everyday a tree planting day.
In our quest of planting new trees, don’t let us destroy the existing oneness.”Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum further admonished Ghanaians.
On the part of Barima Sarfo Tweneboa Kodua, the Paramount Chief of Kumawu Traditional Council who was represented by Amanfromhene, Nana Okyere Baffour, informed the participants to emulate the unending teamwork spirit of the DCE.
‘What do we all see, NPP, NDC, CPP, Nananom, youth groups and the Member of Parliament, District Imam, Pastors of various churches , Assembly members etc. . Let’s work together as we are planting together in the spirit of oness.
It is my prayer that our DCE don’t change in his quest of ensuring unity and harmony that he has brought in this District. Nananom are extremely happy and we shall continue to support the President of the Republic of Ghana and the Minister of Forestry and Natural Resources for such good initiative.
