The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has extended warm congratulations to Hon. Paul Kwesi Amegboe following his successful election as the Presiding Member of the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly.
Hon. Amegboe, who represents the Mankranso-Bɛtɔɔmu Electoral Area, secured a decisive victory after a previous unsuccessful attempt, polling 33 out of the 42 valid votes cast by Assembly Members. This represents an impressive 75.6 percent endorsement, signaling strong confidence in his leadership and vision for the Assembly.
In a statement issued shortly after the election, Hon. Abubakar Sedik commended the Assembly Members for their unity and democratic maturity throughout the electoral process. He described the outcome as a significant step toward strengthening governance and accelerating development within the district.
The DCE noted that the election of a Presiding Member is a crucial milestone for the effective functioning of the Assembly. According to him, the absence of a Presiding Member often slows down decision-making processes and the implementation of key policies and programmes.
He emphasized that with Hon. Amegboe now duly elected, the Assembly is well-positioned to operate more efficiently and deliver on its mandate to improve the living conditions of residents across the district.
“The role of the Presiding Member cannot be underestimated,” Hon. Sedik stated. “It is central to ensuring that the Assembly conducts its business smoothly, coordinates effectively, and advances development initiatives without unnecessary delays.”
Hon. Sedik further expressed confidence in the ability of Hon. Amegboe to rise to the occasion and provide the leadership required to guide the Assembly toward achieving its development goals. He pledged his full support and collaboration, stressing the importance of unity and teamwork between the executive and legislative arms of the Assembly.
He also urged all Assembly Members to rally behind the new Presiding Member and work collectively in the interest of the district. He noted that development can only be achieved when there is cooperation, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to service.
Hon. Amegboe’s election is widely seen as a turning point for the Ahafo Ano South West District, which had been without a Presiding Member following earlier unsuccessful attempts to fill the position.
With renewed leadership now in place, residents and stakeholders are optimistic that the Assembly will fast-track development projects, enhance governance, and respond more effectively to the needs of the people.
The DCE concluded by reiterating his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Presiding Member and all stakeholders to drive sustainable development and bring meaningful progress to the district.
