NADMO Presents Relief Items To Flood Victims At Prestea-Himan

The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Coordinator, Mr. Francis Abeiku Yankah, the Regional NADMO Director, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu and the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Mozart Kweku Owuh together with some other dignitaries on Monday 4th November visited the flood victims of Prestea Himan and its environs to show their sympathy and support. The visit was a respond to the flood incidence that occurred on Wednesday, 30th October at Himan and Ankobra communities.
Speaking at a brief ceremony organized to hand over some relief items to the chief and elders of Himan, Mr. Mozart Kweku Owuh expressed his sorrow over the current living condition of the affected people. He attributed the cause of the flood to the sudden climatic changes which was beyond the control of man. Some of the relief items presented to the flood victims were used cloth 10 packs, soap 20 cartoon, mosquito coil 15 boxes, rice 25 bags, cooking oil 5 cartoon, sugar 5 bags, maize 10 bags, mosquito nets 100 pieces, plastic buckets 100 pieces, plastic basins 100 pieces and plastic plates 100 pieces. He encouraged the victims by assuring them of further assistance in any way he could. He ended by cautioning the people of Himan to adopt some safety precautions in keeping themselves safe from the flood.
The Regional Director, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu also spoke about how some human activities have greatly contributed to the sudden climate changes which has brought about such a misfortune in the Municipality. He urged them to be cautious of the way they do things especially when it comes to building. He entreated them to take permit from the assembly before building to ensure that they build at the right place with the right material to save them from losing their lifetime savings or investment.
The Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Coordinator, Mr. Francis Abeiku Yankah said the relief items will help solve minor problems faced by the flood victims like mosquito bite, hungar and cold. He said other compensations would be brought later to support those whose building have collapsed and those whose building needs to be relocated.
Nana Ntreboah IV, the chief of Himan Divisional Area used the opportunity to thank the NADMO coordinators, MCE and the MP for sympathizing with the victims and also showing them love and support in difficult times like these. He then called on churches, private organizations and individuals among others to come to the aid of the affected people.
