Chief of  Tafo in the Ashanti region,Nana Agyen Frimpong Ababio will soon issue traditional summons against a grass root leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Prempeh Boafo Tony for threatening  to spark chaos in the area should government fail to terminate the appointment of the present MCE for Tafo Municipality Hon Fred Oben Owusu.

On Sunday, 10th January 2021, a press statement was issued by Mr. Prempeh Boafo Tony headlined; “TAFO-PANKRONO IS ON FIRE, AS ANGRY GRASSROOT GIVER GOV’T  ULTIMATUM TO SACK MCE”.

Per the content, charges were leveled that the MCE was not supportive in the 2020 parliamentary campaign of Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo and that of Hon Vincent Assafuah (MP for Tafo).

He again accused that the MCE  that since he assumed the position, the area has not  earned any monumental development and that he (MCE) has been pursuing “a diabolic and a sinister” agenda which has the tendency to derail the fortunes of the party in any future election.

The foregoing was accompanied by a threat to stage series of demonstrations within the constituency if the MCE is not kicked out of office by government and for that matter President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.

REBUTAL

In a sharp rebuttal, Chief for Tafo Nana Agyen strongly opposed the allegations, describing them as false and a callous means to tarnish the image of the MCE in pursuit of his selfish interest.

All charges raised according to the Chief are not the true reflection of the interest of the masses but that of just one man and a few detractors who are in opposition to the good works of the MCE.

Addressing the media at his palace on Monday, he indicated that the MCE Hon Fred Oben has done nothing wrong and that since he came into office , his stellar administration has brought a great relief to the community in the area of development.

Chief for Tafo informed the media that he will summon him (Prempeh Boafo Tony) at the palace over the threat to stage chaos and also question him on why such allegations were raised against the MCE.

“I am the custodian of this community. He has not power to bypass me to pass a bad comment without informing me first. I will summon him and I am sure that perhaps he will not come and by that I will know that he is in charge of the community. But as a matter of truth, the Tafo community has been given to me by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to preside over it as the Chief.”
