Police Inspector Remanded Over Alleged Kumasi Mobile Money Robbery

A Police Inspector stationed at the Asuoyeboa Police Station in Kumasi has been interdicted and remanded into custody over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack targeting a mobile money vendor.

 

The Ashanti Regional Police Command, in a press release issued on May 11, 2026, identified the suspect as Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah.

According to the statement, the suspect was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following what police described as intelligence-led operations.

 

Police further disclosed that a search conducted at the suspect’s residences led to the retrieval of a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and an amount of GHS 9,835.00 believed to be connected to the ongoing investigations.

 

The statement indicated that Inspector Dankwah was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on May 11, 2026, where he was remanded into police custody.

 

He is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command noted that investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

 

The press release was signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Command.
