What began as a Father’s Day celebration at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Trasacco, in Accra turned into a spiritually uplifting encounter when the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, mounted the pulpit to deliver a sermon on faith, fatherhood and responsible leadership.
The congregation, made up of worshippers from diverse backgrounds, listened attentively as the Chief of Staff shared biblical teachings and practical lessons on parenting, integrity and moral responsibility.
Known nationally for his strategic role at the Presidency, Mr Debrah demonstrated a different dimension of leadership, using the occasion to challenge fathers to become role models in their homes and communities.
Addressing the congregation, he underscored the importance of fathers leading by example and nurturing values that would positively shape future generations.
According to him, the greatest legacy a father can leave behind is not wealth, status or material possessions, but the principles, discipline and character he instills in his children.
“Leadership begins at home,” he stressed, urging fathers to embrace sacrifice, responsibility and godliness in raising their families.
The sermon resonated strongly with congregants, many of whom described the message as timely, practical and deeply inspiring. Moments of reflection, applause and worship characterized the service as participants absorbed the lessons shared from the pulpit.
Observers noted that it was uncommon to witness one of the country’s highest-ranking public officials preaching during a church service, making the occasion particularly memorable for those in attendance.
Mr Debrah’s appearance on the altar also highlighted his personal commitment to the Christian faith and reinforced his reputation as a public servant whose influence extends beyond government administration.
Throughout the sermon, he blended scriptural teachings with real-life experiences, emphasizing the need for moral leadership in society and the crucial role fathers play in shaping the character of future generations.
The Chief of Staff further encouraged parents to prioritize the emotional, spiritual and educational development of their children, stressing that strong families remain the foundation of a prosperous nation.
As Ghana joined the rest of the world in celebrating Father’s Day, Mr Debrah’s message stood out as a powerful reminder that true greatness is measured not only by the offices one occupies but also by the lives one impacts.
For many worshippers at PIWC Trasacco, the image of the Chief of Staff standing behind the pulpit and passionately preaching about faith, family and fatherhood served as a compelling example of servant leadership in action.
