Former President of the Republic, and possible president of the Republic come 2021, John Dramani Mahama has made it clear that, the free education policy has come to stay and he is not going to collapse it when voted as the president of the Republic come elections 2020. He revealed that, indeed the free SHS is under pined and guaranteed by the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and it cannot be reversed by any government. He said, but all administration including this current government and any future ones have an obligation to make it a qualitative and enjoyable experience for the children of Ghana . And he is determined to make secondary education a beneficial learning experience more than the current miserable conditions the children are having to face under the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration . He hinted that, at a later date, before the election 2020, he intends to layout in details before all stakeholders and the good people of Ghana his blue print for the educational sector and especially the NDC’s plan for making the free SHS program more sustainable. Adding that, he intends to continue to clear the path way so that the pathway towards technical and vocational education training from the basic level through the secondary level to the tertiary level would be an alternative of first choice and not an alternative of rejected students. According to former President John Dramani Mahama, he is even going to expand the policy by providing the needed infrastructure to make the policy more attractive to students and also to clear the mess the NPP has created in the senior high schools. He called on the general public to disregard the lies by the ruling New Patriotic Party that he will collapse free SHS when re- elected the president of the Republic.
