Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region have staged a protest at the regional office of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) over the return of former DVLA Director, Amos Abeka.

The protesters, wearing red armbands this morning , expressed their anger and disappointment upon learning that Abeka had been granted an additional year in his position despite the appointment of a new substantive director, his deputy.

The NDC members claimed that a farewell party had been organized for Abeka, indicating that he was no longer in charge of the region.

However, they were informed that he would continue to serve in his position for another year. This development has sparked controversy and tension between the NDC members and the DVLA management.

Speaking to the media at the DVLA office, Hopeson Keku, the regional Research Director of the NDC, expressed the party’s determination to resist any attempt to bring Abeka back to the region. Keku announced plans to return on Monday to forcefully install the newly appointed regional director.

The NDC members are adamant that Abeka’s continued presence in the office is unacceptable and are willing to take further action to ensure that the new director assumes his duties.

The protest highlights concerns over governance and the rule of law in the Ashanti region. The NDC members’ actions demonstrate their commitment to upholding the decisions of the authorities and ensuring that the DVLA is managed effectively.

The situation remains tense, and it remains to be seen how the matter will be resolved.

The protest at the DVLA office in the Ashanti region underscores the need for transparency and accountability in governance. The NDC members’ determination to install the new director and their resistance to Abeka’s return demonstrate their commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that the DVLA is managed in the best interests of the people. The outcome of this situation will be closely watched, and it is hoped that a resolution will be reached that satisfies all parties involved.
