A delegation from the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Planning Committee has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, to officially brief the Presidency on preparations towards this year’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving scheduled for July 1.

The visit formed part of stakeholder engagements aimed at ensuring a successful and impactful observance of the annual event, which has become a platform for national reflection, unity and thanksgiving.
During the meeting, Mr Debrah conveyed President John Dramani Mahama’s satisfaction with the successful organisation of last year’s event and expressed optimism about this year’s celebration.
According to the Chief of Staff, the President expects the 2026 edition to attract broader national participation and deliver greater impact in promoting national development and social cohesion.
He said President Mahama regarded the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving as an important national initiative that fostered unity, gratitude and collective responsibility among citizens.
Mr Debrah, therefore, urged members of the Planning Committee to approach their task with a strong sense of national service and commitment.
He encouraged them to introduce innovative ideas and practical initiatives that would enhance the significance of the event and contribute meaningfully to national development efforts.
“The assignment should be seen not merely as an administrative responsibility but as a national duty aimed at strengthening the bonds that unite us as a people,” he stated.
The Chief of Staff further underscored the importance of using the occasion to inspire patriotism, peaceful coexistence and a renewed commitment to Ghana’s progress.
Members of the Planning Committee expressed gratitude to the Presidency for its continuous support and guidance towards the annual observance.
They reaffirmed their commitment to delivering a well-organised and meaningful programme that would reflect the aspirations, values and shared hopes of Ghanaians.
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is expected to bring together religious leaders, government officials, civil society organisations and citizens from across the country in a collective act of prayer, reflection and gratitude for the nation’s blessings and progress.
The annual observance continues to serve as a unifying national event aimed at promoting peace, harmony and a shared commitment to Ghana’s development.
