Kofi Job, a renowned Ghanaian road construction contractor and philanthropist, has donated GHs1,000,000 to clear the medical bills of 213 patients in Kumasi.
The donation, made through the Kofi Job Foundation, also covered the cost of repairing and purchasing health equipment.
The beneficiary institutions were the Kumasi South Hospital, Old Tafo Government Hospital, and the Manhyia District Hospital.
On Wednesday, Kofi Job visited the patients and paid their bills in cash directly to the hospital management.
In addition to the medical bill payments, Kofi Job also provided financial support to some new patients who arrived at the hospitals and were in need of assistance.
He gave GHs 3,000 and GHs 2,000 to cover the cost of prescribed medications and other expenses.
At the Kumasi South Hospital, Kofi Job paid GHs 120,000 to cover the cost of chemotherapy and surgery for two children suffering from cancer. His wife, Dr. Esther Gyebi, Archbishop Akwasi Asare Bediako, and other clergy members accompanied him on the visit.
Kofi Job, who is also an evangelist, joined the clergy in offering prayers for the patients. He expressed his sadness at seeing the patients’ conditions and realizing that many of them were unable to pay their medical bills due to poverty.
“I have realized that poverty is a major contributor to the number of deaths in our hospitals,” Kofi Job said. “My prayer is that God will continue to bless me so that I can support those in need.”
Kofi Job emphasized that supporting humanity is a collective responsibility and called on institutions and individuals to contribute their resources to support the vulnerable.
Dr. Alimatu Salam, a pediatric oncologist at the Kumasi South Hospital, thanked Kofi Job for his generous donation. “We appreciate what he has done, and we pray that God will multiply his contributions a thousandfold,” she said.
